Haddad Hakansson Receives Two Top Regional NKBA Awards

We are thrilled to inform our friends and clients that Haddad Hakansson received two first place awards this week in the 2014 NKBA Northern New England kitchen design contest.

Our team won in both the categories of large kitchen (350 square feet) and medium kitchen (150-350 square feet). Accepting the awards along with principals Mark Haddad and Kurt Hakansson were our design associates Susan Cracraft and Jaye Gordon, who did extensive design work with the spaces.

Both kitchens featured Pennville Custom Cabinetry, appliances from Riverbend & Co. in Westford and fixtures from Monique’s Bath Showroom in Watertown.

The winner in the medium kitchen category was a transformation of a chaotically laid out 1987 Colonial. New doorways and a thoughtful layout created symmetrical, visually organized spaces and a wonderful family gathering spot. The kitchen features beautiful finishes and state-of-the-art LED lighting throughout the entire room.

The winner in the large kitchen category recently appeared on the Wellesley Kitchen Tour. The new space was part of a whole house remodel that added square footage to both floors of a center entrance 1961 Colonial.

The comfortable, elegant kitchen features special spaces for the entire family, including a coffee/bar area, a built in desk/display area, and even custom dog bowls hidden from view and away from foot traffic.

We appreciate the NKBA Northern New England chapter for honoring our work at Tuesday night’s event!

Project Reveal: French Country Kitchen

What a thrill it was to transform the original 1990’s builder’s kitchen into this elegant space!  Although the original layout worked, the island was small and awkwardly placed.  The style of the original oak cabinetry and Corian countertops didn’t fit with the style of the adjacent rooms in this open floor plan home. KITCHEN –… Continue Reading
